VEDIC-BASED COACH
A way to change the trajectory of life.
During my Life Coach training at iPEC, we often spoke of changing the consciousness of the world, one person at a time. But I found myself asking, “What is consciousness?” and “Does it matter to future clients if they know what consciousness actually is?” Those questions occupied much of my time while I served as an adjunct iPEC faculty member allowing over 1,500 students to practice their coaching skills on me—was there even more they could have done to truly improve my life? My personal journey of discovery into the first question began 50 years ago when I started the practice of a mantra-based meditation technique called Transcendental Meditation (TM). Its roots were decidedly ancient and Eastern, yet were supported by the findings of modern Western science. Over time, I began to have direct experiences of “pure” consciousness and became aware of the power it had to change my life’s trajectory. I explored the second question with clients over the past two decades, sharing vedic-based principles for their consideration and observing their life transformations if they began the TM practice. The results were very promising. That has led me to fully embrace the vedic-based coaching approach and to write a series of handbooks that share its principles with anyone who desires to get to the root source of happiness and success in life. AT A GLANCE
LIFE COACHING
After retiring from corporate life, looking for a way to give back for all the gifts I had gotten from life, I discovered Life Coaching. I went through a rigorous Certified Life Coach training program at the Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching (IPEC) and then started my own coaching practice in 2008. I have worked on the development of Vedic-based coaching for nearly two decades and am now making it available for coaches and clients.
CORPORATE LIFE
28 years in leadership roles within the Architecture, Engineering, Construction and Construction Management industry with titles such as Vice President, Senior Vice President and President. I was with four international firms, including one Fortune 200-listed company. I served both public and private-sector clients around the world, often on multi-billion dollar projects (many at the highest levels of technology such as the National Ignition Facility at the Lawrence Livermore Labs.).
PLANNING LIFE
I began my post-military career as a Town Planning Consultant in Maine, USA before being selected to serve as Brunswick, Maine's first Director of Planning and Community Development. There I eliminated the town's only slum and helped all of its residents become homeowners. I supported the Town's Planning Board in their work, re-wrote the Town's Zoning Ordinance and added a new Subdivision Ordinance that encouraged the preservation of Open Space.
SERVICE LIFE
After college, I served as an Air Intelligence Officer in the US Navy. I began my training with future pilots at NAS Pensacola in Florida and then headed to Denver, Colorado for intelligence training — not many Naval Officers end up in the Rocky Mountains, miles from any large body of water. Ultimately, I was stationed at NAS Brunswick; this move explains how a California boy became a New Englander, sans accent.
EDUCATIONAL LIFE
I earned an Architectural Degree at the University of California at Berkeley. I was there during the tumultuous years between the Free Speech Movement and the People's Park riots — never a dull moment. For much of my architectural and planning education, we used the great city of San Francisco during its golden era for design, planning and attention to social advancement.
FAMILY LIFE
My family is my greatest blessing and treasure. Married for more than four decades, two children in their 30s — a girl and boy; they both live up the road in the Boston area. Our daughter is an executive with a prestigious multi-clinic Physical Therapy practice and our son is a Program Director and Doctoral candidate at Northeastern University. My wife is my rock; she has stood by me and helped me learn life's lessons through the thick and thin chapters of our lives. We hike, kayak, ski and travel — doing everything as a team.
